Arbor Day 2021

The City of Harrisburg will be holding a virtual Arbor Day this year on Saturday, May 15, 2021. This year will include events children and families can participate in from the comfort and safety of their homes.  These events include:

1. Coloring Contest - Families are encouraged to download the images linked below and have their children color them for a chance to win a prize on behalf of the City of Harrisburg. Children may submit one (1) entry for consideration. Entries should be submitted no later than Friday, May 14 at 12:00 (noon). The back of the submitted image should include the following: Child's Name, Age, Parental Contact Information, and favorite kind of tree. Images will be judged by a panel of members from the Parks Board. Winner's will be notified shortly after.

 

 

2. Essay Contest - This year's writing prompt is: "Which tree in Harrisburg is your favorite, and why?Children may submit one (1) entry for consideration. Entries should be submitted no later than Friday, May 14 at 12:00 (noon). The back of the submitted essay should include the following: Child's Name, Age, and Parental Contact Information. Essays will be judged by a panel of members from the Parks Board. Winner's will be notified shortly after.

3. STEM Learning Activities - Families are invited to download the list of activities below and enjoy time outdoors together. Download the activities by clicking on the link below.

 

The Harrisburg Parks Department is in charge of all city parks including the Community Garden. The Harrisburg Park Board is an advisory board that meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Harrisburg City Hall Conference Room located at 301 E. Harrisburg Community Garden

Our community garden, Grand Gardens, brings a sense of small town camaraderie to local gardeners. A large gardening area with 48 individual gardening plots is available to all Harrisburg residents for the price of just $35.00 per plot. Harrisburg Baseball

Baseball is big for all ages in Harrisburg. Information and applications can be found at www.harrisburgtigersbaseball.com

Tiger Softball Club ("TSC")

The Tiger Softball Club (TSC) is a non profit organization that specializes in providing competitive softball experiences for youth ages 5-16. TSC is dedicated to providing the youth of Harrisburg and surrounding communities enjoyable softball experiences with opportunities to compete and build skills.  Registration is available for the 8u teams www.tigersoftballclub.com
