Residents and visitors alike are fortunate to have a variety of city parks available, which provide ample room to run, play or just relax. As the community grows, plans are in place to add more amenities such as basketball courts, gazebos and shelters, water play areas, and more.

Golf Courses
Harrisburg is located very close to two of the premier golf course in the area - Bakker Crossing and Spring Creek Country Club.
Lake Alvin Recreation Area
Lake Alvin Recreation Area is known for its beach facilities and excellent fishing, this 59-acre park is a great place to enjoy a day on the beach or spend time with family. The focus of Lake Alvin is water recreation, and the site has become a popular gathering place for swimmers, boaters, and fisherman alike. The lake can be found four miles east of town, one mile north off County Road 135. South Dakota State Park Entrance fee required.
Good Earth State Park
Located near Harrisburg, Good Earth State Park presently has about two miles of undeveloped trails that wind back and forth between sunny grasslands and deeply, shaded forest ravines on 615 acres. It features an abundant variety of birds along with views that are both delightful and dramatic. Good Earth State Park is open year-round for all to enjoy.
