The west water tower in Harrisburg will be drained and refilled today, Wednesday, May 5th, for routine cleaning and maintenance. Customers on the west side of the city may experience lower pressure during peak usage hours of 5pm-9pm. This is normal and shouldn't be alarming. Normal pressure will resume.
The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) recently announced the City of Harrisburg public water system and the system's operation specialists have been awarded a Secretary's Award for Drinking Water Excellence.
To qualify for the Secretary's Award for Drinking Water Excellence, public water systems and their system operation specialists had to meet all of the compliance monitoring and reporting requirements, drinking water standards, and certification requirements for ten consecutive years or more.
This is the City of Harrisburg's 23rd consecutive year.
