Chapter 3.01, Nuisance Regulations
Tall grass and weeds, unshoveled sidewalk enforcement process:
1. Complaint received or violation noted.
2. Site visit to confirm violation within 2 working days (time permitting)
3. Yellow door hanger giving notice and with required date of abatement.
4. Violator given 72 hours to resolve violation.
5. Site visit to determine compliance. If not resolved, an abatement is immediately ordered.
Minor nuisance violations (such as inoperable vehicle, parking on the lawn, etc.)
1. Complaint received.
2. Site visit to confirm violation within 2 working days (time permitting)
3. Written notice sent same day or next day after site visit.
4. Violator given 7 calendar days to resolve violation.
5. Site visit to determine compliance. If not resolved, a contractor will be hired and an abatement of the nuisance ordered.
Major nuisance and property maintenance violations
1. Complaint received.
2. Site visit to confirm violation within 2 working days (time permitting)
3. Written notice sent same day or next day after site visit.
4. Violator given a date to resolve violation. Code official with give reasonable time to abate.
5. Site visit to determine compliance. If not resolved, a notice and order of abatement is sent.
6. If not resolved within 14 days, a contractor will be hired and an abatement of the nuisance ordered.
